Teriyaki Sauce
Ingredients:
1 cup water
5 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1–2 Tablespoons honey
1 large clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup (2 oz) cold water
Sesame seeds (optional)
5 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1–2 Tablespoons honey
1 large clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup (2 oz) cold water
Sesame seeds (optional)
Directions:
Combine the 1 cup water, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, red pepper flakes, and ginger in a medium saucepan and set over medium heat.
In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with the 1/4 cup cold water and whisk until dissolved.
Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan.
Heat the sauce until it thickens to your desired thickness. If the sauce becomes too thick, add more water to thin it out.
Add sesame seeds to taste.

Notes:
For a gluten-free version, use low-sodium tamari instead of soy sauce.
Sure, you can buy teriyaki sauce in any grocery store, but how do you buy better (or cheaper) than homemade with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry? That was a rhetorical question. You can't.
