Seasoned Salt
Ingredients:
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 tablespoon pepper
1/4 cup onion powder
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 tablespoon pepper
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients together until the spices are well distributed through the salt.
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark pantry for up to 6 months.
Notes:
Use kosher salt, sea salt or table salt. They all work. I tend to like kosher salt for cooking, but we need trace amounts of iodine in our diet, so maybe stick to iodized table salt if this is your only source of salt.
Low Sodium version: Leave out the salt entirely, or just reduce it drastically. You will still end up with a great seasoning mix that works almost everywhere. Sprinkle it on hot popcorn and brag about how well you can elevate the flavor of popcorn. Now you're a chef.
MSG has a bad reputation in western culinary tradition, but adding a teaspoon of MSG to the mix will boost the umami level to the moon and back.
It's called umami because it makes your taste buds say, "Ooooooh Mommy!"
Pretty sure that's right. Don't google it.
